IT MAY JUST CHANGE HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING...
I recently turned 35 and can confidently say that I am currently in the best shape of my life and feel like I could rip the jaw off an alligator. Thank you Joe Manganiello. The Evolution program truly taught me what it meant to push beyond preconceived mental barriers and unleash the animal inside of me who had been longing to be let out of its cage. Joe's authenticity in the telling of his story including the rise and fall, and then rise again, brought me great hope and inner strength in my own personal journey. I think what truly sets this program apart from any others is Joe’s ability to express that true strength begins on the inside and the outside merely follows its lead. This book is INSPIRING. READ IT. LIVE IT. LOVE IT. EVOLVE.

I read this for many reasons I read this book:
    1. I am a fan of his. For me he is my second pick for actors.
    2. Great pictures, I am also a photographer as a hobby so the pictures was great in detail.
    3. It is always good to know the actor/actress that you like to watch or even idolis him on many levels.
    4. The workout I am big on healthy and fit living, and you never stop learning on the subject.

The things I did not know was in this book:
    1. Do I really care about your ex girlfriends? not really, I can read stars for that crap and yes stars mag. is crap.
    2. Do I care about who all Joe Manganiello knows and who he meet that was famous as he was coming into his own?
    3. Do I need to know anything that is new or can been seen on t.v. with interviews?
The answer to all of the above is NO.

With all that said, it is a GREAT book for inspiration and a "damn why didn't I think of that." type moment when it comes to working out or even just getting you ass up and go. I think it would be a good idea for teens to read the book for many reason, one is you can bully who you want now but just wait in a couple of years and see who they are now. Two, just because you look one way does not mean you do not have the power, control to look the way you want, IF YOU WANT IT.

So all and all I did like the book, it cleared things up on parts of the work out and if you take a the three things I really did not care about it would be a must for body building and work out for people. So if you are someone you know is into fitness or even if you want your teen to know they have control to change something and not sit around bitching about it, GET the book.

It was a pleasure to read about Manganiello's many struggles as he worked to forge a career in acting. He is honest about his failures and humble about his successes. The appendix of exercise demonstrations is helpful, and although the training program that Ron Mathews includes isn't quite my cup of tea, the workouts are as fun and robust as they are challenging.

Long story short, 'Evolution' is a short blog-style autobio of author/actor Joe Manganiello, written in order to inspire and motivate. Writing is a bit dry, akin to the same 'blogger' style writing as Mark Cuban's book, but it wasn't meant to be THAT eloquent anyway, so no big deal.

The workout protocol is simple, yet effective. If you're looking for something very complex, cutting-edge, or something you've never seen before, you're going to be disappointed. The program bears a VERY striking resemblance to the DTP Protocol created by Kris Gethin (see bodybuilding.com). I doubt there's any intentional plagiarizing here; I think it's just that great minds think alike. At least I know the program will work, because I've done similar before with good results.

Nutrition is where it gets a bit bare-bones, and that's where I see the book falling a bit short. Now, I doubt the author is a nutritionist, so a part of me is glad he doesn't try to be, but the chapter is about what foods to eat a lot of, and what to avoid. Many trainers would STILL recommend creating a diet plan with a good estimate on calories, and macronutrients, to take in each day. If you want a good diet plan to supplement this type of workout program, I'd once again look into Kris Gethin's DTP nutrition plan. There's enough similarities to make it compatible.

The real value of the book comes from the mental development, written in simplest terms, based on the authors experience. Too many times fitness books will go into the program and nutrition, and skip the mental and emotional development altogether. This book is one of those few books that can fill in the gap. It isn't Dr. Wayne Dyer or Deepak Chopra, by any stretch, but what it lacks in depth, this section of the book makes up for in practicality.

So overall, not a bad book. I actually looked into this book ironically, because I dated a girl who had a celebrity crush on him. I took a peek after we broke up, just to see what's so appealing about this guy... and I was left pleasantly surprised. A decent kindle purchase overall, and I'm glad I did it.

Okay lets start of with the negativity the only problem with this programme is you need the gym to be empty or have a fantastic gym at home as its impossible to follow Joe's training methods,

The positives on saying that the way i get around a busy gym is just do all the 4 sets one after the other 5/10 seconds rest its like a tri set or quadruple but only working the same muscle unfortunately doing it this way exhaust the muscle faster but at least i am still following joe's workout

This is by far the best training method i have ever followed, the results exceeded all expectations, if anybody is going to buy any training Manual this is it, forget all the other magazines in the UK Muscle & fitness, Flex, men's health etc, this is the only gym bible you will ever need, Okay Joe is not a body builder he quite clearly states this in the book, he breaks it all down, training, nutrition, exercise pictures and how to achieve perfect form absolutely no BS.

I have the hard back and paperback i take the paperback to the gym and the hardback for reference

I bought it 2 months ago and have read it twice. Motivating and inspirational. Get a great understanding of bodybuilding training and dieting, as well as many of the myths out there. He is blunt and correct with all the advice he gives. I love that he talked a lot about the mind and how big of an impact it has on a persons training and dieting. Although the training and dieting in this book is not for beginners I still recommend this book for anyone who needs some motivation.

Very motivating. The workout plan is a high volume split approach with 6 days a week training but even if you don't train with the exact same approach it is a motivating book and the set rep schemes and exercise pairings are interesting
