It’s October – Let’s Save the Ta-tas!
October means breaking out the sweaters, enjoying the changing colors of the trees, and the opportunity for men to discuss boobs in polite company. That’s right, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we know you all want to save the ta-tas. Ladies, it’s been hammered into our consciousness that the best way to stay on top of our breast health is to do monthly self-exams. I remember being in health class in high school and feeling up a pair of faux boobs to see if I could find the lumps while the teacher reminded us that early detection is the best defense against breast cancer. It’s a common refrain, especially in October when we’re bombarded with pink products, but how many of us are actually remembering that monthly exam? The yearly check up with the doctor isn’t enough, we must put our breast health in our own hands.
BeMitt is a product that helps do just that. Beth Bromberg had a couple of benign lumps removed, and still wasn’t remembering to do her monthly exams, then her daughter Jenna developed a lump and she got motivated. Jenna’s lump also proved benign, but Beth decided that it was time to make self-exams not just easier but more effective. She invented the BeMitt, a mineral oil-filled mitt that enhances sensitivity when conducting the exam. The design reduces friction and magnifies texture, making it easier to learn the landscape of the breast and then detect any abnormalities.
We’ve partnered with BeMitt to help raise $10,000 for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure foundation this month, and we encourage you to check out this product to get us to our goal. A portion of each sale goes to help find a cure for breast cancer. You can help spread the word about BeMitt and the importance of the monthly breast exam on Twitter by clicking here. Wouldn’t it be cool if boobs and how to save them trended every day in October?
Guys, and our stats show that you are reading this, this is a great way to show your significant other that you care about her boobs, too. The plethora of exposed ta-tas on True Blood is probably what got you to watch the show in the first place, so why not show your appreciation by giving your wife/girlfriend/life partner a tool to keep her breasts in good health. Ladies, go take a look at the BeMitt for yourselves; it just might be your new breast friend.
Here’s to saving the ta-tas! (We’re pretty sure Jason Stackhouse is with us on this one.)

This is not about saving “ta-tas” it is about saving women’s lives.
I am confident that given the choice between our “ta-tas” and our lives, we (and the men we know) would chose to have mastectomies (full or partial removal of the breast).
Society has a tendency to commodify women into parts. Just calling it when I see it.
Yes, I agree, it is about saving lives and early detection is key! I really don’t think this message was intended to commodify women into parts, more just a catchy way to bring attention to the importance of good breast health which can lead to saving lives. While the message is serious, the phrase brought a smile to my face.
