The first casting call has been released for True Blood’s third season and reveals some juicy details about what’s coming up. Assuming Alan Ball didn’t sneak in some fake information, here’s who we’ll see on True Blood next summer:

Tommy Mickens, Sam’s long lost younger brother. He has a scar on his face from ear to cheek, works at a tire store in Arkansas, and a family with a bad reputation. He doesn’t know who Sam is when Sam finds him. Sounds like we’ll also being seeing Tommy nude; the casting call specifies that the role involves “backside nudity”. Another shapeshifter in the family?

During the course of looking for his family, Sam encounters Betty and Marvin, an African-American couple who live on a rundown street in Arkansas. Marvin dislikes the Mickens, but Betty – impressed by Sam’s ability to quiet her pitbull – helps him find Tommy.

As previously reported, the show is casting Talbot, the King of Mississippi’s long-time trophy husband. The official casting call reveals more about the character, however. He’s extremely good-looking, like underwear model hot, with a sarcastic personality. He’ll first appear in episode 3.02 as he shows Bill around the mansion where he’s been “invited” to stay. Does this mean Bill was kidnapped by the King?

Jesus Velasquez is a recurring character in season 3 with the possibility of becoming a regular in season 4. Let’s absorb that for a moment; the casting call for the beginning of season 3 already assumes there will be a fourth season. Hurrah! Back to the character, he’s gay, Latino, and – naturally – gorgeous. A good-natured guy, he works as an orderly at a nursing home, caring for an elderly patient who makes racist remarks that he takes in stride. He first appears in episode 3.02.

Olivia, an elderly woman who uses a walker and an oxygen tank, might be under Jesus Velasquez’s care. She sees Bill and mistakes him for her son. Could he be her ancestor?

Those who have read the books will be familiar with Franklin Mott. Described as “sexy, sexy, sexy, sexy”, this vampire is tall, dark , handsome and has an instant connection with Tara. When she faces down some racist rednecks, he rushes to her aid. Is he too good to be true?

Tara also encounters Reverend Daniels, the pastor at Lettie Mae’s church who tries to bring Tara comfort and reconciliation with her mother. It sounds like Lettie Mae has developed an infatuation with her pastor as well.

In what sounds like a challenging storyline for Bill Compton, True Blood is casting a biker gang called the F*ck You Crew who take turns stabbing and feeding on Bill. Cooter (aka Coot) is the gang’s leader, Louie, Jimmy, and Gus are his subordinates high on V. These are recurring roles.

Jason Stackhouse tries to get it on with Jen and Missy, recent NYU grads who are studying to become vets, but keeps seeing them with bullet holes in their heads. Sounds like Terry isn’t the only one suffering from PTSD.

Yvetta is Eric’s new dancer at Fangtasia, and his lover. She a gorgeous Eastern European who speaks Czech. Although she’s currently only slated for one episode, there’s the option she’ll become a recurring character.

It’s also been revealed that episode 3.01 is titled “Pack of Wolves”.

Hmm some of these seem a little too detailed. I think AB is tricking us again!

    • Candee Sparks says:

Regardless, it gives us something to wrap out minds around until next summer even if it is a trick!

    • raquel says:

i luv vamopires and if this is all true awesome because they need to make the next season more hot than last season.

    • ARLENE says:

i know these details do sound to good to be true, but if your a TRUE “TRUEBLOOD”FAN (like me) then you’ll take whatever information about season 3 you can get… YOU GO ALAN BALL.

  2. englishlci says:

Oh my, let’s see how it turns out, can’t wait to see!

  3. I’m suspicious. Too much detail being given for some of the characters. Most casting calls give the BARE MINIMUM in terms of details. They keep things very quiet until the person is cast and starts getting scripts. My source for this: A man who has worked in the film industry most of his life, both directing and not (aka other “behind-the-scenes” jobs). Plus, I’m planning on going into the film industry myself, and I’ve been to casting calls, been on set, etc.

  4. TIera says:

During the course of looking for his family, Sam encounters Betty and Marvin, an African-American couple who live on a rundown street in Arkansas. Oliver dislikes the Mickens, but Betty – impressed by Sam’s ability to quiet her pitbull – helps him find Tommy.

    ^who’s Oliver? Olivia?

but i was too ecstatic to think about the red herrings that might be planted in this. the season sounds very elaborate and cool and i have all faith it’ll be around for tons more seasons! if they are sending us on a wild goose chase… all the better. i won’t be bummed for supposedly being spoiled.

  5. TIera says:

i get major excited about this kinda stuff…

i think the boy who played Sam’s younger self in the flashbacks should play Tommy, they’re spitting images… it could be plausible if they change the stipulation that only first borns carry the trait 9don’t think Sam specified that when telling Sookie about it).

  6. KaRiN says:

…….and no one has anything to say about Eric’s new “lover”??Where did they take this Yvetta from?!(if these are true spoilers, of course…)

    • NordicWitch says:

Slated for one episode…maybe to try to make Sookie jealous? This one definately smells of herring…IMO

      • Lauren Elaine says:

I don’t think that this “lover” will stay on… maybe a couple of episodes (I agree it would be for the jealous issue)… but AB himself said that Eric and Sookie are fated… so…. Team Eric… don’t worry yourselves too much.

        • Lina says:

You know my claws came out for Sookie and I’m thinking “Yvetta? Who is this b*tch?” LOL Then I settled down and saw one episode because AB should know…what we want LOL

          • KaRiN says:

Yeah, maybe Eric is going to try to make Sookie jealous, but I don’t think that she would be, at least not at this point of the story, but who knows with Alan Ball….

      • Sarah says:

Maybe their blood bond will indeed make Sookie jealous. I was a bit jealous myself.

    • Sheila says:

Don’t know because she is not in any of the books. This would be great if the Sookie & Eric relationship plays out. I would love to see Sookie as a hater towards Eric’s romantic attachments. I think AB should expose Bill’s real purpose so Sookie can have more than one lover before getting married. But cant wait to see Yvetta.

  7. Luis G. says:

How do you cast for these things..I wanna be Jesus Velasque..I’m puerto rican very pale brown hair brown eyes 5′9 and 20years old. I look like the latino version of James Dean.

  8. Cristal says:

Ok, seriously, whats up with the Eric’s new “Lover”? I wish he would use the books a little more as an outline, I mean the guy is a genius, but he is gonna lose some of the dye hard fans of the books. But hey, this might just be a trick. :)

    • Colleen says:

I agree! I wish he would stay with Charlene’s story line a little closer as well. He has done an amazing job so far but the books are absolutly WONDERFUL!

  9. Candee says:

It better be a damn trick, ’cause I am not liking this at all. Who the hell are all these people? I HATE how they are portraying Sam’s family. At least the got Tara and Franklin Mott going.

    Bitches.

    • NordicWitch says:

The Weres make sense kinda…the book never really spells out who the ones at the compound are, so I can deal with that. I agree with you tho, that one better be a trick, or at least a one-episode-let’s-try-to-make-Sookie-jealous kinda thing…

  10. Lauren Elaine says:

ALSO… did no one else (only people who’ve read the books would get this)… Russel’s “trophy husband”??!?!?!?!

What the heckfire? Russel doesn’t have a husband this early in the series… he just has his boys and lives in his playboy mansion for the boys. Russel doesn’t get married until the Conference.

I do like the show… but sometimes AB makes me angry with his blantant changes. He’s doing a good job keeping me so far (even with the little things that piss me off… like Sookie saying yes to Bill’s ridiculous proposal)… but I hope he doesn’t start messing up the book and the storylines that we all love.

    Don’t you do it, AB!!

    • KaRiN says:

I don’t really see why AB had to come up with Bill’s proposal, but I think it has its purpose, that will be revealed in the next season. One thing is for sure: that’s one of those things out of the books and I can’t really imagine in which way it will develop, because she said ‘yes’, but Bill never heard it….

      • Candee says:

It doesn’t matter if there’s a purpose for the proposal. He shouldn’t have done it, period.

The only one that gets remotely close to proposing is Eric.

  11. Kimberly Truelove says:

I fell in love with the books. Charlaine Harris developed the characters and the feel of the location very well. Alan Ball is helping them come to HBO so we can all see what we’ve read, or close to it. Of course HBO wants to take it even farther and pick up fans who didn’t read the books. However, just my feeling, but I think the book outlines could stand on their own with very little adjustment. And why are they switching up who writes and directs each episode? Or am I mistaken? I thought they did it in Season One but haven’t received the DVD collection for Season Two as of yet.

  12. Rogue says:

I beleive that AB has made some good casting to represent some characters in the books. Especially when comes to Eric:
CH vision of Eric base on her interview was Vladimir Kulich in The 13 warriors.

A Conversation With Charlaine Harris, An interview with Alisa McCune
    April 2004:

Have the movie/television rights been sold for the Southern Vampire series? Who would you pick to portray Sookie, the Vampire Bill, Erik, Sam, Alcide, Jason, Bubba, and Tara?
Yes, the movie rights to Club Dead have been optioned. There was a guy in the movie The Thirteenth Warrior who would make a great Eric; not too surprisingly, he plays a Viking chieftain in the movie. I really haven’t thought too much about it. Naturally, I would accept Hugh Jackman in any part he chose to accept.

I am looking forwards to season 3.

  13. skay says:

I wish everyone would stop worrying about sookie and eric. I hope AB gives eric a girlfriend before sookie and him hook up. Where did anyone get the impression that eric was always sitting around waiting for sookie to call him. He never comes across like that in the books. Please go back and re-read them. So far AB has made eric more agressive towards sookie in the show than he ever has been in all the books. He is never waiting around on her front porch for her. If you all remember correctly sookie is the one that always goes to eric. She never wants anything from him but favors. As far as Im concerned in the books sookie always uses eric. Eric is a thousand year old vampire, he is not sitting around waiting for this girl. I hope he gets lots of girlfriends, because frankly I cant stand sookie. Her and eric together is a hard visual to get even from the books. I hope they make sookie a bit nicer this season, she is extremely annoying. I wanted to smack her after she told sam and jason to get everyone of her lawn in season finale after sam killed maryanne. I also wish AB would develop pam more. He seems only interested in developing characters he has come up with, like jessica, marryanne. I also hope this season is better than the last 2, Because I dont think I will be watching this show much longer. I expected much better from AB than what he is producing. And ERW has to go as the queen. SHE IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!

    • Candee says:

Agreed. Sookie and Eric don’t really get together until the fourth book anyway. And I really like the set up to it…just him running around in the woods like the barbarian he is. XD

I hate the added characters. Although everyone loves Jessica and she IS a good character, I’ll admit, she seriously needs to go.

It’ll be wierd to see Eric with someone, period. But If that’s
true, I’m actually kind of looking forward to it. You don’t
know what he’s doing in he book outside of Sookie’s view. He could screwing some one different every night and we wouldn’t know.

It would be great if it was a brunette though. I think that would be funny.

And of course, I will always fight to include Bubba. Poor, poor Bubba. Excluded from the fun in exchange for a newer, younger, brat of girl vampire. Some times I don’t like you AB.

    • godess says:

You are so right about Eric! It’s true, we don’t know exactly what he’s up to when he’s away from Sookie, but it’s definitely something worth his time and effort. He’s not just sitting around as he’s way too smart for that. Besides, it would be nice to see him take an interest in someone else for a change. Wonder if Pam feels her position threatened by his attentions toward another… Could make for an intersting storyline, eh AB? Definitely need to build up Pam’s character. She’s so witty and Kristin portrays her so well!

  14. godess says:

    Agree that:
ERW needs to go…she’s pathetic as Sophie Anne. Hope she’s killed off in the first few episodes of Season 3.

Too many “new” characters. And what’s with the FU Crew??? Sounds a little too much like the fey feeding on Sookie sequence, which happens later in the books…

Also, we definitely need to have True Blood come to Vermont if AB plays out the whole marriage thing. Hey, maybe stage another wedding (like Tara and Franklin Mott) in Burlington that the Bon Temps vamps attend?? No way, though that Bill and sookie should get married…that would ruin everything.

  15. Gia says:

well, we know that the vampire kind of mississippi was cast already, and he’s not exactly model material. so these spoilers seem iffy.

  16. Liz Soskin says:

I’m curious about the kidnapping arc ending in episode 6! That is most of the third book! How are they going to get that done so quickly, and everything that happens to Sookie on that mission? Plus, what are they going to do for the rest of the season then! Has it been mentioned that Alcide is being csted or is he not in the 3rd season?!

  17. Sammy says:

I agree..I don’t want Eric and Sookie yet..and you know Eric is a very sexual being..it is dumb to think he is being celibate..no way. Even Book 4 was just for a week or two..then they didn’t get together again for several more books..Sookie and Bill have to play out…and she still has to go all “Buffy” if you know what I mean..and Lorena… and Club Dead.. and Alcide and Debbie Pelt..the weres who guarded Bill at the house..they tortured Bill along with Lorena.and Debbie..and the biker gang was at Club Dead too.
