J. Smith-Cameron joins True Blood's third season

EW’s Ausiello just posted the scoop that Tony winner J. Smith-Cameron will join True Blood for the third season as Sam’s mom, Melinda Mickens. It’s a recurring role that calls for Cameron to play a dirt poor, hungover woman who lives in a shanty.

Sam’s brother, Tommy, has already been cast, but the actor playing Melinda’s also-living-in-squalor husband, Joe Lee, has yet to be announced. We’ve speculated that Tommy and Sam are half-brothers, and that Joe Lee is the first to realize Sam’s relationship to Melinda. Sounds like Broadway-vet Cameron will have plenty to sink her teeth into with this role!

What a lovely woman – Haven’t seen her before.
I’m going NUTS waiting for True Blood to return.

Also – I can’t wait for the series to get to the story of Eric getting amnesia and running to Sookie’s house….It was so great in the book, but every story has been even more awesome to watch! I hope this show lasts forever.
