We’ve received word that TwiCon, the pair of conventions to feature Sam Trammell and Joe Manganiello this summer, has been canceled. Their website mentions several factors, including the downturn in the economy, and states that they will be contacting ticket holders regarding refunds.

ah man, bummer!
Frankly, I’m not surprised. Single content conventions would have a very hard time surviving in this economy. It seems like the only ones that work nowadays are ones that have multi-fandom focuses. Also, Twilight draws in mostly younger audiences and younger audiences don’t have money, their parents do.
Besides, we all know that
REAL VAMPIRES DON’T SPARKLE!!!
I’d have to disagree with you on the single-content conventions not surviving. The Harry Potter fandom has a yearly convention, all of them being very successful since their start in 2003.
