Spartacus star Peter Mensah is joining the cast of True Blood season 5, Deadline reports. He’ll play Kibwe, who we meet in episode 5.02, “Authority Always Wins”.

Peter Mensah joins the cast of True Blood season 5Kibwe is a vampire who originally hails from Africa and now serves as Chancellor for the Authority. He believes in rehabilitation for prisoners over stricter punishment, although we don’t know which prisoners that description is referring to just yet.

Deadline also includes this piece of information in their report: “Kibwe works toward mainstreaming under Roman’s tenure.” So Roman is the current head of the Authority. Do we finally have a clue about who Christopher Meloni is playing?

They couldn’t have picked a more dignified, elegant, authoritarian actor to play Kibwe. As fans of the “Spartacus” franchise know, Peter Mensah plays Doctore/Oenemaus brilliantly, as an honorable man torn between duty and justice. He will make an entertaining and moving addition to the “True Blood” cast. Plus, I’ll get to watch him on two shows. Yay!

A awesome choice as an addition to True Blood. And it will be awesome to hear him speak normally and not in the over the top way Spartacus script writers like for a change!
