J Cameron-Smith Stars in Broadway’s Revival of THE MAIDS

J. Cameron-Smith, who True Blood viewers know as Melinda Mickens, is headlining the revival of Jean Genet’s play The Maids on Broadway this month. Cameron-Smith is the maids’ employer, and it doesn’t sound like she’s a pleasant one. The Maids runs March 15-April 1 at the Red Bull Theater. Here’s the synopsis from the theater:

Revenge tragedy meets film noir in this seductively playful and incendiary masterpiece. House-maid sisters Solange and Claire spend their days dreaming of escape, while their bourgeois employer Madame floats through life on champagne bubbles – until fantasies turn deadly in this thrilling psychological kaleidoscope of a play. Set in a phantasmagoric world of masks and mirrors, ceremonies and sensuality, heightened language and beautiful gesture, The Maids is ritualistic exploration of class, the nature of identity, and the power of imagination.

Sounds like Downton Abbey-meets-creepy horror movie. Tickets are available by visiting Red Bull Theater or by calling (212) 352-3101.
