Spanish True Blood convention cancelled

The organisers of the Spanish True Blood convention in Barcelona have just announced that they have cancelled their upcoming Con. Star Dream Events have stated that due to a poor response from fans they are unsure of the con’s success. For more information, please read their statement on their website.

    This is unfortunate. True Blood needs stronger promotion in Europe. Obviously the fans won’t come unless the convention can present some fan favorite actors.

    That is very true Rina.

    I would add that conventions are not always big to begin with. Yes, organizers need to at the very least break even, but they are as much about passion/obsession :-), for the subject and word of mouth as they are about promotion.

    Having attended 2 run in the UK, I have been amazed by the low turn out on both occasions. We’ve had some main cast (Joe, Sam & Kristen) and the event has always only had about 200 attendees. So I am not at all surprised that the cancellation of this one. It’s a shame though.

    I think the problem may have been that the organisers were putting the cart before the horse. They were prioritising booking guests rather than booking an actual venue first. I’ve attended both Bitten cons here in the UK and the organisers always have their venue and hotel room rates deals set before booking guests.
