Our first foray into running a fansite was for another vampire show, the gone-too-soon Moonlight. The series tells the tale of Mick St. John (the yummy Alex O’Loughlin), a private investigator in Los Angeles who also happens to be a vampire. He has a strong connection with reporter Beth Turner (the adorable Sophia Myles), and watching the pair of them draw closer is a treat. The cast is rounded out by Jason Dohring as snarky vampire Josef Kostan, Brian White as Lt. Carl Davis, Shannyn Sossamon as Mick’s ex Coraline, and, later, Eric Winter as ADA Talbot.

Although it lasted just sixteen episodes, Moonlight is one of those series that grabbed fans’ by the heart and won’t let go, combining a modern take on the vampire mythology with good old fashioned romance, plus humor, action and humor. We think fans of True Blood will enjoy seeing Mick, Beth, Josef, et al. navigate a different sort of vampire story. Even if you already have Moonlight on DVD, this would be a nice gift for someone this holiday season.
