Win A Pass to City of Eternals!

Since season 2 ended in September, we’ve recommended a slew of books, movies, TV shows, and music to keep True Blood fans occupied during the hiatus, giving away at least one of each item we recommended. This week we’re breaking the mold with a game. And not just any game, a massively multiplayer-online (MMO)/social media hybrid that is taking the gaming world by storm. Oh, and it just so happens to feature vampires.

city_of_eternals-logoskylineCity of Eternals, currently in Alpha mode, is a Web-based MMO with a modern vampire theme from a new start-up called Ohai. It doesn’t require any additional hardware purchase or software installations because it uses Flash, making it accessible to everyone. The game’s theme, vampires, is also appealing to a much broader audience than most MMO’s. Ohai’s CEO Susan Wu says that the male/female spread at this point is 50-50.

Another unique element of City of Eternals is the social media aspect. Login through Facebook Connect or Twitter, and voila! you’re playing the game. Since every player is logging in via Facebook or Twitter, there’s a real human being to look at behind the avatar. Click on the player’s icon and you’ll see a picture and the first name of the player; you can even message them if their privacy rules allow it.

So what is the game all about? The concept is that after an ill-advised walk through Central Park, you wake up in the New Valencia cemetery, a newly-turned vampire. Oops. Now you have missions to complete, skills to learn, and friends to make. You can also purchase items within the game using “ohais”, virtual currency which can be bought through the game website.

Intrigued? Thanks to Ohai, we have 100 passes to give away here on True-Blood.net! Each pass also comes with 100 ohais, the virtual currency that will cost money once the game officially opens.

How to Enter

  • Leave a comment below telling us what your vampire name would be;
  • Be sure to include a valid email address as that’s how we’ll contact the winners;
  • Comments must be posted no later than 11:59PM PT on Thursday, December 17, 2009, to be eligible;
  • One hundred (100) winners will be drawn at random from eligible entries and sent their pass code.

Good luck!
