True Blood 101: Alan Ball Answers Fan Questions
A few weeks back we told you that Gianna Sobol, who is writing the HBO – Inside True Blood Blog, would be choosing 5 questions from those submitted by fans, for Alan Ball to answer. The first question covered how witches were going to be represented in season 4. I found the answer pretty interesting. I thought about some emails and comments and posts in our forum regarding the accuracy of some of the story lines in the past three seasons and I felt it would be beneficial to draw attention to have a point of reference here at True-Blood.net.
This week, Alan answers a great question about filming scenes over a period of time. “Are scenes from more than one episode involving the same character shot on the same day? (Am thinking mostly about where some actors / actresses bulk up or down and how that is managed if scenes from episode 1 and 9 are shot the same day early on, and then other scenes from the same are shot a month or two later).” This is a valid question that many people wonder about and we’ve talked about it at various time in the forum. It seems logical to assume things are done the way they are in films, but Alan explains in detail the how’s and why’s of shooting a television series.
The schedule is never permanent, things are always changing around. A lot of things factor into the schedule – how much work an episode has, continuity of space, time of day, and other various elements (blood, for example). (Read more…)
