Tru Blood Sells Out in Vending Machines

HBO’s full-press marketing campaign for True Blood continues to make the news. The latest headline grabber is that vending machines selling Tru Blood across the country have now sold out. According to reports, vending machines filled with the “synthetic blood nourishment beverage” have sold out – but vampire fans can get more of the bloody refreshment at events across the country promoting a new HBO drama.

The ad campaign fully embraces True Blood‘s premise, with delivery trucks carrying the Tru Blood drink, a full-on ad campaign for the drink, an original comic book, a mockumentary disguised as a news show, several dedicated websites and blogs, barhopping “Fangbanger” girls, and street teams taking surveys to determine pro- and anti-vampire sentiment.

Comic-Con will be well-stocked with Tru Blood, says ad watcher Brandweek. Bottles are designated type A (light & delicate), B (aggressive & energizing), AB (smooth & refined), or type O (hearty & satisfying). As readers of True-Blood.net know, Pam and I will be at Comic Con and we’ll be bringing back swag to share with the fans, so stay tuned!
