True Blood Stars Head To New Projects

True Blood has a large guest star and recurring cast list, which means some familiar faces are bound to appear in other projects. With pilot season in full swing, plus May sweeps just around the corner, True Blood alumni are in demand.

  • Michelle Forbes (Maryann) has been cast in Killing, an AMC drama pilot which centers around the police investigation of a girl’s murder. She plays the mother of the victim.
  • Aunjanue Ellis (vampire Diane from season 1) has a recurring role in CBS’ hit drama The Mentalist as Madeline Hightower, the unit’s new boss.
  • Carrie Preston (Arlene) also heads over to a CBS hit drama on May 4th, guest starring on The Good Wife as one of Peter Floricck’s (Chris Noth) attorneys in what could become a recurring role. (Note: Carrie is guest starring in addition to working on True Blood; Arlene isn’t leaving Bon Temps any time soon.)
  • Mehcad Brooks (Eggs) has been added to the cast of ABC’s pilot Generation Y. The dramedy tracks high school alumni for 10 years after they graduate; Mehcad will play the jock, a lieutenant in Afghanistan trying to get back to his pregnant wife.
  • Joe Manganiello (Alcide) arrives on True Blood this summer, but in the meantime he’s booked a lead role in the pilot for Livin’ on a Prayer, created by the guys who produced How I Met Your Mother. Should the pilot go to series, Joe would star as Doug, a former high-school football star turned “good-guy” husband and father.
  • Michael McMillian (Steve Newlin) co-stars in the ABC Family original movie Beauty and the Briefcase, premiering Sunday, April 18. Michael plays Tom, one of the men Lane (Hilary Duff) dates as part of research for an article.
  • Michael Raymond-James (Rene) co-stars in the new FX series Terriers, set to debut this summer. Mikey Ray plays the best friend of a former cop, with whom he launches an unlicensed P.I. business.
  • Patrick Gallagher (Chow) co-stars in Glee as Ken Tanaka, the coach who was engaged to Emma. (Thanks, Barb!)
