SPOILERS: Casting Call, Title for 3.10

More clues for True Blood season 3 emerge with the casting call for episode 3.10, titled “I Smell A Rat”. Written by Kate Barnow and Elisabeth R. Finch and directed by Michael Lehmann, this episode features some surprising developments. So who’s showing up in this episode?

Tony is described as at least 6 feet tall, Caucasian and in his 20’s. Considered “tall, dark and sexy in a runaway junkie kind of way”, he’s a prostitute out for a fix. He’s picked up by Russell because he has some resemblance to Talbot. Uh oh, trouble in paradise? The role has the potential to recur in season 4.

Meanwhile, a TV Newscaster is being cast to report that Russell is still (?!) missing. In connection with Russell’s disappearance, the show is looking for a Female Cop who approaches Russell.

We’re getting a flashback to Sam’s past, in 2003. In that flashback we’ll meet Jon, a cocky, sneering con man in his 20’s or 30’s and Charlene, hot 20-something female dressed in business attire.

It sounds like bigotry against vampires will feature heavily in this episode as well. Jade, a woman in her 30’s with big hair, wants all “fangers” to pay. She and husband, Vern, also in his 30s and described as “an angry and ignorant goon”, go to Bill’s house to commit a hate crime, but they quickly realize they’re in over their heads when they meet Jessica.

The media is taking note of the turn against vampires. The show is casting a male TV Anchor who reports that hate crimes against vampires are expected to rise.

We’ll also meet a Vampire Lawyer who is hired to prepare a last will and testament for Eric. What has happened to make him decide to do this after 1,000 years?

A second flashback, to the 1930s, will also feature in this episode although we don’t know whose past we’ll be seeing. Does this connect with Eric wanting to draw up a will? Or Russell’s disappearance? The show is casting a Mexican Husband and Wife, described as a young couple in their 20’s, and a Mexican Woman around 65-70. The actors must be fluent in Spanish and deliver a small chant in Spanish.

What do you make of all this, Truebies?
