Evan Rachel Wood plays 'Veda' in the HBO mini-series, "Mildred Pierce"

Evan Rachel Wood stars in the mini-series remake of the 1945 film, Mildred Pierce. The short synopsis of the movie, based on the novel by James M. Cain, reads, “after her cheating husband leaves her, Mildred Pierce proves she can become independent and successful, but can’t win the approval of her spoiled daughter.” That daughter, Veda, is played by Wood in the HBO production, but was originally played by Ann Blyth. Joan Crawford played the lead and won the Oscar for Best Actress is a Lead Role. Blyth was nominated for Best Supporting Actress and the film also garnered three more nominations.
