Sookieverse Blog Counts Down with Sookie & Eric in Book 4

The Sookieverse Blog is counting down the days until True Blood season 4 premieres by highlighting various elements of the fourth book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries series, Dead to the World. Today’s post kicks things off with their top 10 favorite Sookie/Eric ‘shipper moments:

Sookie’s Moment of Clarity

“Let me go home with you. I don’t know them,” Eric said, his voice low and almost pleading. I hurt
inside when Eric said something that was so contrary to his normal personality. Or was I seeing Eric’s true nature? Was his flash and assurance something he’d assumed, like another skin, over the years?

Why we love it: Because it shows that after spending time with Eric in his cursed state, Sookie understands that this Eric is not an imposter. Yes, he is different – but the Eric she is seeing now was simply buried by experience, he is not “new”. He’s not an invention, or a trick, or a false representation. Sookie has a series of smaller revelations about Eric’s true nature in DTTW, but this is the “big one”. She clearly enunciates everything Harris went to pains to demonstrate with Eric’s amnesia arc.
