True Blood Fashion Q&A: Salome’s LBD, Hadley’s Crown, Luna’s Sweater & Jeans

I’m experiencing some technical difficulties getting the audio interview with costume designer Audrey Fisher off my iPad so I can excerpt it, so this week’s True Blood fashion Q&A is the traditional format. With any luck, and minimal hair pulling, I’ll have the audio files ready for next week. In the meantime, Audrey graciously took time out from her hiatus to answer your burning questions!

Q. I have been looking for a LB dress exactly like the one worn by Salome in season 5 episode 6 forever! Any ideas where it’s from, or where I could find something similar? With that particular neckline, length, tailoring etc. Cheers! – Frances

A. Wasn’t that striking? A woman couldn’t help but feel powerful in that dress! It’s one of Audrey’s favorites, too. It’s by Black Halo and although that exact dress is not currently available, I did find this very similar style that might fill the void in your closet.

Q. I MUST find/have Hadley’s little crown from the “fairy club” scenes!! I’m running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Feb 2013, and have been looking for a very special head piece. (Many run in costume.) It dawned on me that her crown would be perfect…and kind of tongue-in-cheek to don a True Blood piece at the Magic Kingdom! – Lisa

A. Lisa, you are too funny! Unfortunately Audrey sourced that from the Warner Bros. costume shop; it’s a vintage, one-of-a-kind piece that you won’t find in stores. You could try eBay or maybe Freecycle or Craigslist in your area to see if you can find something similar. If you do, send us a photo! And way to go, Marathon Girl!

Q. Hi! I NEED to find out where I can get the red sweatshirt Luna is wearing on the episode where she gets shot with Sam outside the house!!!! Oh, and finding out where her awsome ripped jeans come from would be a major bonus!!! Thank you so much for your help!!!! – Laurence

A. Laurence, your fashion emergency is duly noted! Audrey came through with both the sweater – Fire – and the jeans – Zara. The “destroyed” sweater is not available anywhere that I can find, not even eBay, but the brand is carried in the Juniors departments at Nordstrom and Macy’s. Keep an eye out as the autumn/winter styles start coming in and you might find something similar. Audrey’s team did some additional distressing on the jeans; start with the Light Denim Selvedge style and customize as desired.
