Deadline reports that Nelsan Ellis has joined the cast of The Stanford Prison Experiment, a movie about the infamous 1971 psychological exercise in which college students exhibited shockingly cruel and sadistic behavior when divided into camps of prisoners and prison guards.

Nelsan will play a character named Jesse Fletcher whose role in the film is unclear. The movie stars Ezra Miller, Michael Angarano, and Billy Crudup as Dr. Philip Zimbardo, the Stanford professor who conducted the experiment and later wrote a book on the psychology of good and evil behavior based on what he observed.
